Why We Built The EPUB Reader
For over two decades, digital book enthusiasts have faced a frustrating dilemma: opening or converting an EPUB, Kindle AZW3, or MOBI file either meant installing bloated desktop software like Calibre or uploading private, copyrighted manuscripts to questionable online conversion websites.
Many web-based converters quietly store uploaded documents on remote servers, monetize user files, or feed proprietary text into automated artificial intelligence training pipelines. Meanwhile, readers who simply want to read a chapter on a borrowed computer, Chromebook, or mobile device are blocked by format barriers and closed ecosystems.
We created The EPUB Reader to challenge this reality. By leveraging the latest in browser technologies—including client-side WebAssembly, the File System Access API, and native canvas rendering—we proved that complex ebook parsing, high-resolution PDF compiling, and full EPUB authoring can execute entirely inside your device’s local memory.
